Names Database

The Yad Vashem Central Database of Shoah Victims’ Names contains the names and birthplaces of 4.5 million Holocaust victims.  This database was established in collaboration with Google.  Below is a screenshot of the database.  My primary motivation here in scraping this database is to be able to map the locations of the 4.5 million victims in the database and to correlate the fraction of the Jewish population sent to concentration camps based on nationality with that of the clergy.  In particular, this correlation could be used as an indicator of whether more or fewer clergy were taken when a higher fraction of Jewish people were taken, which could then be used to infer the relationship between the clergy and Jewish populations.  Unfortunately, as described on the Scraping the Database page, I have encountered a number of problems with obtaining this dataset; for this reason, my project at this time does not contain any results derived from this dataset.
