Missing Data

Because there were many people who died in infancy, never married, and/or never had children, I realized I needed some way of expressing this information (not lack of information). I also wanted a way to notate "placeholders" as a way to show places where I needed to do more research.

Because I wanted this information to come up where I normally entered people, I just created fake "person record" for this information:

  • Never Married
  • No Issue
  • More Information Needed

A bit of a cheap solution - but it worked!

It was just a coincidence that they ended up right next to each other alphabetically. One way to make this information more visually organized would be to create a separate "sublist" of just these three options at either the top or bottom of the list of real people, separated by a line.

I also added an icon as a visual way to represent those who died in infancy. This helps me see quickly who I still need to find portraits of.
