Methodology

Gathering and organizing data is no longer the main focus of this project. I have placed the data in a form that can be quickly changed depending on the need of whatever program may be used. The next step is to think how the anaylsis of this police log will better help us to understand the movements and events that occurred on the week of the riots. This dataset gives extensive details into the actions of the New York Police during an event that could have had extreme consequences on the country, had the riots not been quelled. The goal of anaylsizing this dataset is to shine light and map as many of the events that happened during this ordeal. While the riot was eventually quelled, how succseful were the poiice at their job? Military force did have to intervene but did it appear the police were containing the situation or overmatched by the mob?

This dataset was presented in a paragraph form which reads like a book. It is difficult to imagine the occurences spoken about within the data when there are no visual guides. The perfect methodology of anaylizing such data is through the combination of a mapping visualization and historical information to help orient the audience. The main focus should be the progression of the riot through the week shown on the map of New York City. There are other methods that can be used to anaylize the data but I believe the ideal way to connect the data to my research goals is through mapping.
